It’s Election Season and you can see who is running for office

Just a reminder that ORCA is a non-political organization. We do not endorse candidates for political office but we encourage all residents to be informed citizens.

Fishtown, Northern Liberties and East Kensington neighborhood associations have invited candidates for office in the May 20th Primaries to visit their April meetings.

This month’s speakers will be PA State Representative Mike O’Brien of the 175th State Rep District, and primary challenger, Sean Sullivan, to speak on the issues coming up in the May primary election. Mike Kravitz of City Commissioner Al Schmidt’s office will also speak about the upcoming primary election and voting in Philadelphia.

*MEETING ENTRANCE: Schoolyard door, 6th St between Fairmount and Brown. (In other words, you won’t have to go through the front building (on Fairmount – you’ll be able to enter the new gym building more or less directly.)

Come to the NLNA’s April General Membership meeting at the brand-new gym at our local elementary school. Meet Kearny’s new principal, Dan Kurt and Hear from Farah Jimenez, a member of the School Reform Commission.

Around 7:30pm, hear from candidates in the upcoming May Philadelphia Primary Election from the 175th State Rep District and possibly the 181st State Rep District.

East Kensington Neighbors Association

House and Senate Candidates have been invited to mingle before the meeting starts at 7pm and to give five minute spiels during open mic time at the end of the meeting for both the 175th PA State Rep District and the PA Senate 2nd District.

Volunteer Day of Service, Saturday, September 25, 2013

Calling all Volunteers!!

Join Friends of Hackett, Land Stewards, LLC and others at Hackett Elementary School for a Day of Service.

Meet at 10 a.m.

2161 E York Street
Philadelphia, PA 19125

We will be painting the exterior doors, adding classroom numbers to the school yard for where the kids line up, weeding, raking, planting and more. Dress to get dirty and have a great time!

Villanova has offered to provide a bag lunch for all volunteers so please RSVP.
